Groundwater & Soil Moisture (Resource Management)

Scientific framing

The same state variables that govern hazard susceptibility — soil moisture and groundwater levels — are also the core quantities of water resource management. Modeling them well serves both prediction (Pillars 1–3) and stewardship of water resources.

Soil moisture modeling

(Root-zone and surface soil moisture; drought and water-availability relevance; sensors and remote sensing products.)

Groundwater-level modeling

(Water-table dynamics, aquifer response, recharge estimation; links to the seismic water-table mapping in Soil Hydromechanical Memory.)
